The Millennium Bill passed Congress last year, to raise all 110 National Cemeteries to Shrine Quality level. Willamette National Cemetery was picked to experiment with improvements and evaluate results after two years. The problem is markers can sink by up to 3” during the rainy period from October through May. In some sections of this hilly terrained cemetery, markers also slide downhill. All markers, throughout the 200 plus acres, are re-leveled, and correctly positioned every year. After mowing, staff have to use handheld weed wackers to clear away the grass growing over the headstones. The sunken headstones require more work to keep the grass away until they can be lifted. So far the Grasspave2 is providing stability underneath the headstones. This testing is being done in Los Angeles also where we have had additional orders for Grasspave2.

Grasspave2 is laid in a continuous 1/2 meter wide strip underneath a row of headstone markers. This provides stability over the whole row, linking the stones to one long support structure.

Mowing and maintenance is easier with markers all level. In other areas of the cemetery, the headstones are sunken by 3”. Others are tilted or out of position
