Project Profile:

Federal Express Flight Simulator

Project Summary

Flight simulators are very large and getting them into this building required strong pavement of Grasspave2 over a thick road base. The sod was being laid at the time these photos were taken. Naturally the sod was dormant in February so there is no rich green appearance. This is where Federal Express trains their pilots.

Grass Pavers were installed in the areas where the flight simulators enter the building at the Federal Express Flight Simulator building in Memphis, Tennessee, using Grasspave2.
Sod had been laid over the GP2 mats. In the spring the grass will knit together and form a beautiful lawn for trucks to drive over. Note the flush concrete curb on the right.
Reinforced-Turf Mats were installed in the areas where the flight simulators enter the building at the Federal Express Flight Simulator building in Memphis, Tennessee, using Grasspave2.
Each of these indents of GP2 sod areas allow for truck transports to move the simulators.
Porous Pavers were installed in the areas where the flight simulators enter the building at the Federal Express Flight Simulator building in Memphis, Tennessee, using Grasspave2.
This wall of glass is removable so that the flight simulators can be moved into the building. With GP2 over the road, engineered for this heavy load, the grass doesn’t compact under the pressure.
A Turf-Reinforcement System was installed in the areas where the flight simulators enter the building at the Federal Express Flight Simulator building in Memphis, Tennessee, using Grasspave2.
The exit road is shown here with concrete flush curbing to indicate where the GP2 is located over the access road.
