Project Profile:
Ladd Peebles Stadium
Project Summary
Ladd Stadium has a long tradition of hosting the Senior Bowl and the GMAC. During the weekend there are tents set up and parties held on the east side where the parking bays appear to be much wider in order to accommodate the activities. This Tricentennial project was $3,015,823 in improvements. Michael C. Dow, Mayor and Council person Clinton Johnson in District 3 are credited on the Capital Improvement Project sign. In meeting with Gary Tillman, P.E., he spoke about the unique drainage layout which allowed for two overflow detention basins on the SE and SW corners of the property. There is only one to two feet of elevation on this 33 acre site. Stormwater drains off the asphalt onto the Grasspave2 area, then the overflow is collected in storm channels with catch basins on the south end which are piped to the back of the property and drained to the detention areas.

West side of Ladd Peebles Stadium, City of Mobile. Grass parking was done in half bay depth so that pavement striping could delineate each space.
Example of length of parking strips on the west side.
Flush treatment of asphalt and Grasspave2 on end caps. Note that the wheel stops are in the concrete drainage strip.
Drainage basin area showing the concrete block pits where water will overflow onto the ground. Fencing was used to lock up the detention area.
Wide dirt areas in the middle of parking will be used for tents and activities.

Camphor of concrete on both sides meets with a flat bottom that drains to the south end collection catch basin, then to underground pipes running east and west.
