Project Summary
438 parking spaces of Grasspave2 with Gravelpave2 aisles. Grasspave2 parking spaces, closest to the building, have their use rotated periodicallyto keep the grass blades looking their best. Maintenance crews block off sections and give those areas a break from parking. Invisible Structures recommends Grasspave2receive no more than 5 passes per day or have a rotation schedule in place for high-use area, similar to the Mitchell Center's procedure.

Aerial shot of the overall view of Mitchell Center parking lot showing the combination of Grasspave2 for the parking bays and Gravelpave2 in the aisles.

First row of Grasspave2 parking showing concrete curb detail of end cap, and flush concrete strip between grass and Gravelpave2 aisle.

Main entrance aisle to parking lot has an asphalt surface because of the high frequency in this location - all cars feeding into this lot enter through the drive as shown by the car in the background. Flush concrete curbing is the same detail as when the surface is Gravelpave2. Note the excellent condition of the grass.

Maintaining the existing ground level for tree preservation was attained by building a retaining wall around the tree, allowing for rainfall to permeate the Gravelpave2 in the parking aisles, while building a porous cross section on top of the tree canopy spread.

There is a catch basin in the grass area to capture excess rainfall caused by intense quantities in a short period of time.

The perimeter drive aisles are also surfaced with asphalt since the traffic in this lane will be higher.

The yellow bumpers were added in 2002. The asphalt entry driveway is shown on the far right.
