Project Profile:
Kester Park
Project Summary
Kester Park is a large Parks and Recreation complex of ball fields and play equipment. Some parking, probably the most frequently used areas are asphalt, while all the overflow areas on three streets is in Grasspave2. The maintenance crew on site at the time of the photography indicated that the long grass fertilization is different from the special mix that is used on both the parking areas and ball fields. The Grasspave2 installations on the three off-street parking areas is now three years old and well maintained. Separate lawn maintenance crews take care of these different areas.

Entrance sign on the corner of 7th and 4th.

Seventh Avenue off-street parking is the same length as this asphalt lot. This is a good comparison of the appearance of surfaces.

View of that same parking spot from the neighbor’s house across the street. The green space around the edge of the park keeps the image less encroaching on the people nearest the park. Stormwater runoff moves toward the grass.

4th Street parking has a flush concrete curb for delineation because the sidewalk is positioned further back.

6th Street parking is delineated by a sidewalk, curved as shown in the previous photo, instead of concrete wheel stops.

The parking area doesn’t have to be a straight line as shown by the curved sidewalk on 6th Street.
